A Hong Kong court on Monday convicted beautician Li Yanlin of doxxing and blackmail after she uploaded intimate photos and personal details of a married finance director she had briefly dated, then demanded HK$2.6 million to keep the affair private. [1]

Deputy District Judge Ivy Chui Yee-mei found Li guilty of doxxing offences tied to four videos uploaded between May 2022 and March 2023, and of two counts of blackmail. [1]

The victim, whose identity was concealed during the hearing, was described as a married director in the finance sector with a public profile. Li and the man had a brief affair in 2021. [1]

During the relationship, the man said he paid Li a monthly allowance of HK$40,000 and later transferred HK$800,000 to help clear her debt on the mainland. [1]

Li posted the videos on YouTube with images, the victim's name and allegations about him, including the claim that he was "playing the field," according to the court account. She then threatened to expose the affair unless he paid the money she wanted. [1]

The conviction adds to a case that centered on the public exposure of private information and a demand for payment linked to a personal relationship. [1]

The court has already ruled on guilt. The next step is sentencing, though the date was not given in the facts before the court. [1]
