A 69-year-old American woman died after falling from the 29th-floor pool deck of Hotel Indigo in Hong Kong's Wan Chai district on Tuesday morning, injuring 7 people below as shattered glass struck the lobby area. [1]
Police said the woman's husband left the hotel at about 8 a.m. to see a doctor, and she fell shortly after 9 a.m. The woman had reportedly suffered from depression and stopped taking medication in March 2026. [1]
The fall caused glass panels near the lobby entrance to break, injuring people on the ground floor. [1] A 74-year-old local woman was seriously hurt and taken to Queen Mary Hospital, where she remained in intensive care. [1]
Other injured people included the 74-year-old woman's 77-year-old sister, a 10-year-old boy and his 40-year-old mother from mainland China, a 41-year-old Chinese woman and her 8-year-old son, and an 89-year-old American tourist. [1]
